This building fascinates me. I was wondering back from Reading Terminal today and this building (1326 Chestnut St.) struck me for some reason. I’m not sure why. I’ve probaly walked by it 50 times.

It is currently vacant except for the Valu-Plus on the bottom floor that has destroyed part of the facade. There’s grafitti on the building that actually seems to add some character.

Looked it up, and it is the Lucas Building and used to house the Keystone National Bank. Willis Hale was the architect. There’s a little info on it here and a few more images on my Flickr.

Note to self: Buy someday and kick out Valu-Plus.
